The human body is the main focus of her work, as it can be appreciated in video-sculptures such as WATER RITUALS, shown at the exhibition The Final Frontier, New Museum of Contemporary Art, New York City, 1993. This interest for the human body has led her to work with medical images such as X-rays, tomographies, etc., integrating them into videos, paintings and installations. Some of her research on this field can be seen in one person shows like ALTER ALTARE, 1993, ADN 8A , 1999 both at Sala RG-CELARG , and CORPOREO, 2001 at Galeria 39. With this gallery she participates in Cutting Edge, ARCO -Madrid 2.002 and Art Miami 2003. Showing her work with genetic formulas and graphics on her own DNA printed in latex. Ochoa has also developed an acknowledged work on choreography and performance art which she integrates to her videos, in pieces like CAJA DE MÚSICA, shown at the IX Festival Internacional de Teatro de Caracas, 1992. Her interest on gesture and human rites, as well as on the environment that conditions them, has led her to travel and participate in experiences with the remaining tribes of the Amazon jungle, and with the inmates of Venezuelan sadly famous prison Retén de Catia (now demolished). From these experiences, she has produced video-installations like RUINAS CIRCULARES - HOYANO (IV Bienal de Arte de Mérida-1997), and sound installations like VOCES DEL RETÉN (exhibition Caballo de Troya, Museo Jacobo Borges, Caracas, 1996). Dressed like a homeless, she has walked the streets of Caracas, while being secretly videotaped, for her video-installation LEJANA (Museo Alejandro Otero,1999), based upon Julio Cortazars short story with the same title. Her work is present in the collections of important museums of Caracas: Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Caracas Sofía Imber , Galería de Arte Nacional, and Museo Alejandro Otero. She has received a number of awards, among which the most important are the Premio de Arte No-Objetual, Salón Arturo Michelena, Valencia, 1987, for the video-installation INVERNADERO; the III Premio IV Bienal de Arte de Mérida, 1997, for the video-installation RUINAS CIRCULARES - HOYANO, and the Premio Harry Liepienz, Salón Arturo Michelena, Valencia,1998, for the video-sculpture UNA OBRA DE GRAN ENVERGADURA. Her videos received all the awards in the Venezuelan competitions of single channel videos , and they can be seen at Museo Reina Sofía de España, and Video Data Bank at Chicago University , among other video collections.
